Ingersoll Scout Reservation

Drive- 3 hours, 204 miles

Dining Hall, a pool, climbing tower, and a lake

Ingersoll Scout Reservation (ISR) is the primary resident camp of the W.D. Boyce Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Located just west of London Mills, Illinois, the reservation encompasses almost 1000 acres of woodland and prairie between Fulton and Knox Counties. The Cedar Creek, a tributary of the Spoon River, forms most of the southern boundary of the camp.

In the morning, a troop may choose to go to the Paul Bunyan outpost instead of the normal breakfast at the Dining Hall. Paul Bunyan is an interpretive program based on an old-fashioned Minnesota logger camp, complete with staff in period attire, serving pancakes and sausage for breakfast, and offering such activities as tomahawk throwing, kubb, loggerball, crosscut saws, and spar pole climbing. The lunch activity is a trip down to Crawdad Landing on the Cedar Creek, where scouts eat a sack lunch and spend an hour sliding down a giant tarp into the creek, often getting extremely muddy in the process. Enduring as one of Ingersoll’s most popular attractions, Horseshoe Bend is the dinner outpost and interpretive program based on a cantina in the Old West. The program includes horseshoes, tomahawk throwing, a blacksmith forge, lassoing “cattle” and even a “bucking bronco”. Much of the food is prepared over an open fire or in dutch ovens. Dessert consists of IBC Root Beer, kettle corn, and fresh, homemade ice cream, hand-cranked by volunteering scouts.

CANYON CAMP

Hiking. Climbing. Kayaking. Just a few of the many things you can look forward to your experience at Canyon Camp. Nestled at the base of the Apple Canyon in Northwestern Illinois, Canyon Camp offers complete immersion in the natural world for your troop. Make use of the 330 acres of naturally wooded land for both Scouting advancement and activities. The possibilities for your week-long adventure are practically endless!

Pretty basic summer camp with 50 or so Merit Badges. Smaller Camp is well suited to younger Scouts but not as interesting to older Scouts with 2-3 Summer camp attendances.

Napowan Scout Camp

Wild Rose, Wisconsin

Camp Napowan is nestled between two beautiful lakes in the pine woods of Central Wisconsin and is one of the most exemplary summer camps in the Midwest. For over 65 years, Napowan has provided hands-on outdoor education and fun for Scouts from across the country.

Napowan offers pavilion dining to its campers, where Scouts have a special opportunity to get to know Napowan camp staff and be entertained with song and merriment. This also allows more time for Scouts to pursue their interests without having to deal with meal preparation.

Camp Napowan provides many unique opportunities for Scouts in all of the program areas offered. Traditional Aquatics, Shooting Sports, Nature, Handicraft and Scoutcraft take on new meaning when participating in the camp’s exciting and focused programs. There is something at camp for Scouts of all ages.

Camp Buffalo

Monticello, Indiana

Home…that is what we hope you will feel like you are at when you visit us. Camp Buffalo is a property of Sagamore Council, Boy Scouts of America. We are located 9 miles north of Monticello, Indiana, home of Indiana Beach and the famous slogan, “There’s more than corn in Indiana!” The camp is located on banks of the Tippecanoe River, which allows us to provide several canoe trip options ranging from a few short hours to overnight.

Camp Buffalo also has many facilities available for use. Included is our spacious dining facility Shideler Hall, our recently renovated Multi-Purpose Building with meeting rooms and bunk rooms, and two cabins, Winter Quarters (which sleeps 24) and Ivey Lodge (which sleeps 25). Our large campfire ring, quiet chapel area, and rustic nature lodge are surrounded by 16 campsites and miles of hiking trails. Camp Buffalo also has an excellent shooting sports facility, an outdoor swimming pool, a mountain bike trail, and our ever-expanding Liberty Lake for fishing and canoeing. Our two wetlands provide a great location for wildlife and conservation lessons.

Wood Lake Scout Reservation

Wood Lake Scout Reservation is comprised of two major camps and 2 primitive camps: Camp Tamarack, Camp Will Welber, Cam Dan Beard, and Camp Jim Bridger.

Camp Tamarack is approximately 250 acres and is the summer camp facility located on the north side of Big and Little Wood Lake. Camp Tamarack has 14 campsites, 3 winter lodges, 16 staff cabins, main shower house, health lodge, Director’s lodge, dining hall, cooks cabin, quartermaster/trading post, administration building, conservation pavilion, rifle range, archery range, waterfront, athletic field, and parade field.
